Welcome to Crooked Places Straight
Hey, you found us! No matter if it was by accident, or on purpose, I invite you to enter and share my adventures, insights, and ramblings.
Crooked Places straight started in 2013 as a blog to share God’s love through the written word, to bring hope, encouragement, and joy to those who are hurting. My prayer was, and still is, to always point to the One who is able to meet you where you are. Hopefully, through my written words, you will hear Him call you His Beloved.
Crooked Places Straight came from Isaiah 45, “I will go before you and make the crooked places straight.” I find much comfort in this promise, because no matter how bumpy the journey, if we follow Him then our feet are on a sure path to victory.
As you browse my blog you may notice I write mostly about relationships. We were created for relationships, the most important relationship being our relationship with God, through His Son, Jesus. But sometimes we get tripped up and through a series of “not so good” choices we end up wounded. If we don’t take the time and steps to heal then we keep repeating the same cycle. I share some of my own experiences of how God brought me through situations in hopes that maybe you will be able to relate to some of what I say and know that you are not alone.
To love God is to love people. Everyone has a story and I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories. I believe through sharing stories we can learn more about each other and be slower to judge and quicker to love and mercy. You will find some of their stories as you browse my website.
Crooked Places Straight travels the United States and partners with local churches and ministries to reach the lost through:
Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (Amplified)
We are not all called to travel the world, but we are all called to share our faith, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you want to reach your family, community, co-workers, schools, and the market place for Jesus, but you don’t know how? What if I told you that you don’t have to be a dynamic speaker or great evangelist to open your heart and mouth and introduce them to Jesus Christ? Would that help you? Our workshops are fun and life applicable, through teaching, role play, example, and scriptural. We help to prepare you and your team to go out into your community. Jesus already did the heavy lifting with the cross and resurection, we just have to believe and trust Him and open our hearts and our mouths.
But how will people call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher (messenger)? And how will they preach unless they are commissioned and sent [for that purpose]? Just as it is written and forever remains written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:14-15 (Amplified)
OK, they are saved, now what? Now we (the Body) are to disciple them. What does that mean? We teach and train them to be Disciples of Jesus. Too many Christians are carnal and weak, because they have not been taught the next step after the “altar”. The Christian life is not a cake walk and those who are not prepared will fall away in defeat unless they are trained to know Him for themselves.
You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give to you. John 15:16 (Amplified)
Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:12 (NKJ)
Discipleship Workshops teach the Body to be mentors to new Believers and to help them grow in maturity in their walk with Christ. All it takes is a love for God, people, time, and maybe a taste for coffee. If everyone could invest in just one person imagine the impact we could have in the world for the Kingdom of God.
Our workshop is informal, fun, and practical.
(Eternal) Life Coaching
It is good to have someone to walk, talk, and pray it through with you. Sometimes you get stuck and you just need a hand to help you up. Sometimes your mind gets stuck like a broken record, repeating over and over again your hurts and offenses. It’s good to have someone speak the Word over your situation, because only His truth can break the bondage and set you free from wrong thinking, toxic relationships and choices, grief, and every other area that tries to separate you from the full knowledge of His love for you. Through prayer, listening, and His Word, I (with the help of His Holy Spirit) can help you know your true identity in Him and He will heal you and set you free, not I, but Christ in me.
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. John 10:10 (Amplified)
(Full disclosure, I am not a licensed therapist or doctor, I am just someone who has been there and set free and now I help others to know the love of Christ for themselves.)
It is my hope and prayer that through sharing testimonies, stories, and teaching, His Holy Spirit will lead you into a deeper relationship with Him; so you may know and grasp your inheritance in His glorious riches of salvation through Jesus Christ.
From glory to glory…
I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron. Isaiah 45:2
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (Amplified)
