It is not a question of belief…
It is a question of what you believe.
We all believe in something, but if you really want change, then believe in truth.
If you have believed a deception for so long then you may have a hard time recognizing truth.
Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets; She cries at the head of the noisy intersections [in the chief gathering places]; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: How long, O simple ones [open to evil], will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and [self-confident] fools hate knowledge? Proverbs 1:20-22
The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). Proverbs 4:7
The Lord does not want you to be ignorant, He wants you to be FREE.
Pay attention to your thoughts. Hold your thoughts to light of Gods truth.
… whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. Philippians 4:8
Do not get caught in the enemies snare. You may not feel the noose right away, but it will grow tighter and tighter and tighter… until you can no longer breathe. Eventually you will find yourself in such a dark place and you will question everything you believed in. You will be filled with doubt, insecurity, fear, bitterness, depression…
Are you there now?
Look to Jesus, He is the light and His light will dispel all darkness. Open your eyes and see, open your ears and hear.
The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent. Psalm 34:18
You know where you are. You know if you have been believing a lie. In your belly you know the truth. Turn and be healed. No matter how pretty, handsome, comfortable, a lie is; a lie is still a lie. There is no freedom in a lie.

This is great writing on a much-needed concept within the Body of Christ at this time. I just completed a series on Discernment and Deception. In part of my research I found that there are more than 90,000 people a month looking for things about “deception,” and almost 50,000 looking for “discernment.” I truly believe people are beginning to wake up from a long-held illusion as to their inability to be deceived.
I love your statement “Eventually you will find yourself in such a dark place and you will question everything you believed in.”
I believe that to be a good place for those who have been deceived. It proves they are still hungry for the truth, and are motivated to break free. May the Lord give them grace.

I am listening hard to what you are saying. Every deliverance seems to require a truth encounter. I now need a truth encounter. Truly stumped…but listening hard.

Ah, my friend, we all need truth encounters. You are right, every deliverance requires a truth encounter, “So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” John 31-32
I remember a particular dark time, I was at the end of myself, I tried everything and nothing worked, finally I just cried out to Him, “Jesus, Help!!!” I believe when we come to the end of ourselves, He rolls His sleeves up, pulls us close to Him, and says….”sssh, I have you” Then He whispers in our ear exactly what we need to be free.
