I have really been burdened lately, sometimes to the point where an anxiety attack threatens me. This is when I have to sit down, breathe, and remind myself of 1 John 4:4.
Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].
I told my husband last night that I feel like the darkness in this world is rising up for its last stand. I read the news, look at social media, listen to people, and I feel evil around me. Thankfully my husband is the voice of reason and he knows the Lord; he reminded me that these things must happen. The Bible says it will happen and it will get worse.
But there is no need to panic or be afraid. Because…
We are under such a spiritual attack and it is increasing. Do you see it? Do you recognize it? No, you are not imagining things and it is not just because “people are crazy!”
It is happening everywhere; in our homes, our schools, our government, Hollywood, and most disturbing is in the church.
Clearly these people do not know the word of God. So I have to ask, do they read the Bible? Do YOU read the Bible?
I could go on and on, but you probably see it in your feeds too.
Lately I have been feeling like I am in a fog. I have been feeling so lethargic, tired, for no reason. I have been struggling to concentrate and I have been feeling the enemy’s arrows flying at me. It is like the lion is standing outside my door. Sure sign of a spiritual attack!
Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
This is no time to slumber! Jesus told His disciples what to look for as a sign of His return and the signs are here. We must be about the Father’s business! Are you His? Then you have a purpose, a calling, and He has equip you with all you need to fulfill the call.
Do not get sidetracked. Recognize the attack and take your stand.
Will you stand with me? To the glory of God.
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit, and keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously and looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ [which will bring you] to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy but with fear, loathing even the clothing spotted and polluted by their shameless immoral freedom.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling or falling into sin, and to present you unblemished [blameless and faultless] in the presence of His glory with triumphant joy and unspeakable delight, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Most of us would not hesitate to defend a helpless person. If we see an elderly person fall down we would help them up. Or if we see a small child alone and lost in a city street, we would stop and call the authorities; it would be impossible for us to turn a blind eye to a helpless child. In times of natural and/or unnatural disasters, the supernatural steps in and empowers ordinary people to rise up and help. Wars have been fought to free enslaved people and many have sacrificed their own lives for the life of another.
You see, the world is the person(s) who needs help. Many have fallen and are lost. They are defenseless in a world darkened with deception.
Throughout history, just and unjust, wars have been waged. We are living in a time where there are no longer just rumors of war, but actual wars; in other countries and our own. Conflict is on the rise and people are divided. Division has breached government, friendships, and families. It has given birth to fear, mistrust, selfishness, and paranoia.
Across the globe there are hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and fires. People are suffering from illness and disease. There is a pill for everything; depression, insomnia, weight loss, high blood pressure, heart, constipation, ADD, ADHD, RLS, ED, thyroid, headache… and the list goes on. Those who can’t afford prescribed medication self medicate, opening the door to bondage of addictions. Recently I read an article about a plague taking lives in Madagascar. The plague?
Peoples hearts are failing them. The fear of the future is causing many to check out emotionally or physically through suicide. Families are juggling the bills, choosing between eating, electricity, or rent. The pressures have destroyed families, children are growing up unsupervised and without a parent. The rate of marriage is low as people hop from one relationship to another, our elderly are forgotten in nursing homes, and the transient state of our country has left many without the help and support of family.
Men don’t know if they are women, women want to be men, it is mass confusion! Equal rights now equal domination. To go against the grain is considered hate. Carnality is celebrated and to stand on Gods truth is to be labeled bigot, ignorant, and homophobic.
People are leaving churches, the Gospel message has been watered down across the pulpit, and many are choosing their best life now over God’s truth. Itchy ears are placated with political correctness and pats on the back; because His word doesn’t fit the worlds narrative and it is offensive.
The signs He told us to look for are here. His return is sooner than we think. He IS coming back. It is time to WAKE UP, Church!
This is not the time for entertainment and to lose ourselves in front of a television or computer screen. We are not called to sit back, scratch our heads and live defeated lives; we are not to roll over dead! We are called to an abundant life! And I am not referring to prosperity preaching. I am talking about the abundant life of expectation. Expect God to move… through us!
But a move can’t happen if we are closed up into our own lives, too afraid to go into the world, and worried about what “others” may think of us.
“Adam and Eve were placed in the garden with a mission. God said, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” It was God’s intention that as they bore more children, who also lived under God’s rule, they would be extending the boundaries of His garden (His government) through the simplicity of their devotion to Him. The greater the number of people in right relationship to God, the greater the impact of their leadership. This process was to continue until the entire earth was covered with the glorious rule of God through man.”
“But in Genesis chapter 1 we discover it’s not the perfect universe. Satan had rebelled and had been cast out of heaven, and with him a portion of the fallen angels took dominion of the earth. It’s obvious why the rest of the planet needed to be subdued – it was under the influence of darkness. God could have destroyed the devil and his host with a word, but instead He chose to defeat darkness through His delegated authority – those made in His image who were lovers of God by choice.”
“The backbone of Kingdom authority and power is found in the commission.”
– Bill Johnson, When Heaven Invades Earth (I recommend this book!)
Now I will remind you what we, His Church, have been commissioned to do with power and authority:
Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words],baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually, regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of age.” –Matthew 28:8-20
“These signs will accompany those who have believed; in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” -Mark 16:17-18
If you have read this far then I know this is for you. You are in agreement and His Holy Spirit is prompting you and you know there is more to life than this! You know you have been chosen and called. You feel the sting of conviction to be purposeful and be about His business.
Maybe you don’t know where to begin. You begin right where you are, but you do not stop there.
You begin in your home, with your spouse, children, or parents. If your family does not share your faith in God, then thank God you are there! They are your first mission field. “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified [that is, he receives the blessings granted] through his [Christian] wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be [ceremonially] unclean, but as it is they are holy.” -1 Corinthians 7:14
Then go into the world! Take His light into the schools, workplace, market place, for wherever you go you are carrying His light. “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven”. -Matthew 5:14-16
Always be ready to give an answer for the hope that you have!
The kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force! Now Go!
Come, let us be His Church together.
Oh, God, help us! Move our hearts with what moves Yours. We believe, help us overcome our unbelief. Create in us a new heart, a strong heart, a heart of flesh, that we may be moved with compassion and action to a lost and dying world. For Your name sake! In Jesus Name, Amen.
For all the knowledge the internet has brought us, it failed to bring wisdom.
We have hundreds of friends on social media who we have never even met in real life; yet we will hold conversations with them, engage with them, celebrate their birthdays, debate politics and share photos of our children, while ignoring the one in front of us. We will go out for dinner with our spouse and instead of quality time with the one we love, we will take a picture of our dinner and immediately post it to Facebook and then keep checking to see if anyone likes it. It is so sad to see couples sitting across from each other staring at their phones. Sigh, is this what we have become?
Children are growing up influenced by social media instead of their own parents and we wonder how we ever lost this generation? Young girls are posting selfie after selfie, seeking validation because there is no one in her real world who speaks to her, hears her, sees her; because we are all too busy with our own on-line lives. Post after post, she cries out for help, “Will someone please see me?” She equates the number of likes for acceptance and validation of her worth.
I don’t know about you, but I am relieved the internet was not around during the days of Samuel or Isaiah! Could you imagine?!
God: “Samuel! Samuel!”
Samuel: “Not now, God, I have to finish this post.”
God: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?”
Isaiah: … the sound of crickets, because Isaiah was just too busy posting his comment in a Facebook debate on dead religion.
And I am pretty sure it wasn’t Windows 10 that Daniel opened to pray!
For all of this togetherness the internet could bring us, it has been used as a tool to cause division and strife. Do we spend more time on-line than we do in the Word? Instead of knowing His Spirit for ourselves, or are we accepting someone else’s regurgitation as truth? Are we no longer able to discern right from wrong because the moral code has been pushed so far left we just don’t know what’s right anymore; nor do we feel the sting of conviction? Could it be we don’t even know truth anymore; because the internet said it, so it must be true. Instead of being a light in a dark world, have we let the world into the church? If it weren’t for all of our comments of “Amen,” and sharing post because “If we do we will be blessed by nightfall,” does anyone even know we are Christian?
How about you? Where are you? Do you hear God calling you or are you just too distracted?
Are your relationships crumbling around you because you are out of balance?
Are you neglecting your gift and refusing your calling because you would much rather be entertained?
But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. 2 Timothy 3
This is a wake-up call, my friends. Do not hit the snooze button! Close the laptop lid, turn off the phone, unplug the router, and grab your Bible, go into your room, close the door, and ask God to renew your heart, light the fire so you may return to your first love, and repent.
Abba Father loves you! He is calling you. He is waiting for you.
So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. Luke 15
Why do we think it so strange when the people we are closest to turn their backs on us? We are living in a time where things are NOT gray, they are black and white, light and dark, the lines are not blurred. We are in a time when people call good evil and evil good. Why do we find this strange when the Bible tells us this is going to happen?
I am writing this post because my heart is heavy and feeling broken. I wont go into details, but suffice it to say, because of the truth of Gods word, I am losing people that were once so close to me. I am no way claiming to be perfect or super spiritual, but I do know Gods word and there are some thing that are non-negotiable. Does this mean I love them less? No! But, listen to me, no matter who it is that is challenging your belief and faith in Christ, you must NOT waiver!
Lately, the persecution is stepping up it’s game. To believe in the word of God you are given a label, and it is not a nice label. You can try to be as loving as possible and explain and defend yourself until you are blue in the face, but the truth is… the time has come to separate the sheep from the goats.
Look, I want to be real with you. This is not always easy, because it is coming from people we love and care for. We may struggle and hem haw around because we do not want to “offend” them or “hurt their feelings,” but I have to tell you, there is something much more at stake here.
We cannot walk around on our tip toes, because if you are a follower of Christ, then you must learn to see as He sees. He did not love people unto their grave and death because He didn’t want to hurt their feelings. He didn’t tip toe around and sugar coat things because He was afraid they would reject Him. He met them where they were (His goodness), ministered to them, and then told them to go and sin no more. He was not afraid to call it out, because He didn’t look at the temporal, He looked at the eternal.
We must look beyond the flesh, beyond the person, and recognize it for what it is. It is an attack from the enemy. Do NOT take it personal! The person through who the attack comes from is being deceived. Have pity on them, have compassion, but do not waiver, stand on the truth!
Think about Judas; he walked with Jesus. He was in the inner circle. He heard the Word through God Himself. He sat at the table with Him. But, he was deceived and betrayed the very One Who held eternal life in His hand. He betrayed the very One Who laid His life down for us.
Luke 22:2-4 says: The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people [who listened devotedly to His teaching, and who respected His spiritual wisdom]. Then Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve [disciples].And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him and hand Him over to them.
The devil saw the weak link and took advantage of it.
The enemy will come at us through the people we love. We think because we are Christian things should be easy. We think if we love someone enough they will see the truth.
I like how the Amplified says it: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword [of division between belief and unbelief].For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;and a man’s enemies will be the members of his [own] household [when one believes and another does not].
His Word is offensive to those who do not believe. Because His Word speaks truth and it convicts of sin. Not to torment, but to show a better way, to lead to repentance and salvation. But, for those who are comfortable in their sin, they will reject the truth. The world will tolerate you as a Christian as long as you keep silent. But, we are NOT called to be silent. We are called to be the salt and the light. When someone is in darkness, the light will blind them; they will either adjust their vision to the light, or they will reject the light.
What I am trying to say, is do not be afraid, do not back down. Do NOT beat people up with the Bible, but DO continue to speak the truth. Do NOT back down or sugar coat the truth. Their eternity is far more important than your feelings and what they think about you.
Stay close to Him, my friends. The day is coming to an end. His return is close. Pray for them and give them to God. You are only responsible to speak the truth, not for if they receive it or not. And for pete’s sake, do NOT let the enemy wreak havoc in your mind with accusations of your past, do NOT let him tell you you are disqualified! You are called and chosen. Now GO!
When you are being “labeled,” and when you are being accused, hold fast, even if the accusation is coming from someone as close as Judas.
We look high and low for something to numb us or someone to fulfill us.
Addictions come in many forms. Drugs, alcohol, relationships, impulse shopping, social media, etc…
Because there is that something in each of us that is reserved for Him. He planted it in us. Because He desires an intimate relationship with each of us. He loves us that much and He is a jealous God, that is why nothing or no one can fill that void we have. He said it is for Him.
The beauty of this is…. what we can not do for ourselves, He can and will do it for us.
Look as much as you want… but until you call His Name, Jesus, you will never find what you are looking for.
Is my Bible the only Bible that does not say, “Come to Jesus and your life will be a happy one, everyone will accept you, you can remain in your sin because God loves everyone and He would never send anyone to hell”?
Having read the Bible cover to cover, and knowing His voice and having a real personal relationship with God, I do not recall Jesus ever offering an escape clause from living a holy life. I do not remember Him ever saying if it gets too hard to follow Him, it’s OK, He understands if you want to go back to your old life, you get kudos anyway for “trying.”
But! He did offer an escape from the judgement that is coming. He did offer salvation through Him. He did offer peace when things get tough. He did promise He would never leave us even when the rest of the world turns their back on us.
Oh, and by the way, He NEVER said it would be easy. He told us to pick up our cross and follow Him. He told us the world would hate us because the world hates Him. And in preparing us for what is to come, He told us to NOT be afraid, because He has overcome the world.
And for good measure and assurance because He knew we could never succeed on our own, He gave us a Helper, His Holy Spirit. So since we have His Spirit inside of us, we can surely say with the greatest of confidence that He Who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. We are fully equip to be over comers.
Let me tell you why I am writing this post:
Apostasy abounds. The great falling away is happening. Great men are falling away from the only truth that can save their souls. Sin abounds everywhere, evil is being called good and good is being called evil. The world celebrates perversion. Christians are being persecuted, even to the point of death. Governments are leading nations astray to a Godless society. Anyone who speaks out is shunned, ridiculed, called names and mocked.
This morning I get on facebook and you know what the first two stories I read were? A Christian artist came out that he is gay and he is applauded for his “bravery.” And he is assuring everyone that God created him this way and he could no longer live the life of a hypocrite. Then I read another artist denounces Christ because “it just doesn’t work for him anymore.”
So I ask, how could anyone who has known God ever walk away? And worse, encourage others to follow them? Because they do not have a regenerated heart.
You see, when we have fully committed our lives to God and we have repented of our sins, He is faithful. He gives us His strength to face the world, to finish the race.
The key word to note is REPENTANCE.
I watched a great sermon by TD Jakes and he talked on this very topic of repentance. How do we know we have truly repented? Does it mean we will never sin again or do the things we used to do before we were saved? No. It means we will no longer be comfortable doing the things we used to do. It will no longer be “normal” or “natural” for us.
You can not fully love and follow Christ if you are comfortable living in your sin.
I am not writing this because I want to point fingers or claim to be perfect. I am far from perfect. I have my hang ups. I have my weaknesses and I know it is then, in my weakest of moments, He always shows up strong on my behalf. If I start veering off the straight path I hear His Holy Spirit warn me and tell me to come to my senses.
You know what? It is not always easy. We are in a time in history where we can not live a silent faith. We must be bold in our witness. Fence walkers do not make it. You know what the Bible calls fence walkers? People who are lukewarm. And do you know what He will do with the lukewarm? He will vomit them right out. Don’t believe me? Then I suggest you read Revelation 3:15-17
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were cold or hot.So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].Because you say, “I am rich, and have prospered and grown wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked [without hope and in great need]
Guys, listen, the end is closer than we think. Read your Bible, He told us what signs to look for of His return. Know His voice, because in these last days you are going to need a lot of discernment. Do not be deceived by these smooth charismatic talkers and do not get side tracked.
Look to Jesus as our example:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud ofwitnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us,[looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work]. Just consider and meditate on Him who endured from sinners such bitter hostility against Himself [consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. -Hebrews 12:1-3
So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun. For He will come in like a narrow, rushing stream Which the breath of the Lord drives [overwhelming the enemy]. Isaiah 59:19
Wow! If John said we were in the last hour then, it isn’t hard to believe we must be in the final minutes now. (click here) We witness debauchery in all it’s flamboyance on a daily basis. Sadly, this perversion is not just in the world, it has entered the Church. The mockery against our Christian faith is so blatant it doesn’t even give pause to blush. But, let us also remember, this attack is not just against us, it is an attack against our God. This is a spiritual war.
Oh, Church, please wake up. Do not be deceived and get lost in the midst of all the distractions the world is throwing at us.
We see people falling away, those who we once esteemed as spiritual giants are going against the Word of God, Christians are being persecuted worldwide, sexual immorality is showcased and celebrated, hatred and paranoia have gripped the masses, to speak truth has been labeled as hate, we find humor in another’s misery, we speak death without flinching, life is not valued, marriages are not honored, chastity is ridiculed, we are greedy while others go without, or we stand on the sidelines and watch and have the audacity to say “at least I am not like them.”
As a Believer in Christ we are called to be holy. We need His Holy Spirit more than ever in these last days. We do not need to be afraid, we need to be bold and we need to be filled with His Spirit.
Do not retreat, do not be afraid…
Even in what looks like the darkest hour, His light still shines bright. The enemy has come in like a flood and He is lifting a standard. Our God is alive and well and He will not be silenced, He will not be mocked. He is moving in the hearts of His people, He is still calling us. Pockets of revival are breaking out and we will see many signs and wonders.
Now is not the time to slumber, lest’ He return and find us asleep.
My brother, my sister, let us continue to walk in love, even if the world calls it hate. Love God and follow Him with NO compromise.
When He returns let Him find faith.
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is [indeed]plentiful, but the workers are few.So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
