“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. BUT GOD has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that NO flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption – that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
-1 Corinthians 1:26-31
The emphasis, BUT GOD, is my favorite. I shouldn’t even be here… BUT GOD!
You have heard the saying, “Life can sometimes be stranger than fiction”? Well, it certainly was for me. I am so thankful that God chooses people like me.
I didn’t grow up knowing the love of a father. And because I didn’t grow up with a healthy measure of love and affection, I spent the first half of my life trying to prove my worth. Unfortunately, this altered my perception of my identity, and caused me to make some unhealthy choices. (If you would like to read my “fictional biography” you can purchase the book The Distance, found on the top of the side bar, or click here.)
I will not go into detail here, but I will say again… BUT GOD!
I opened with this, because I want to assure you, no matter what you are going through, I understand. If God can save me, turn my life around, and use me, then He can do the same for you.
Take comfort in Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” And it is for this reason that we can go boldly to the throne of grace, so we may obtain mercy and find grace in our time of need.
It is comforting to have someone to turn to in our time of need and know they understand. I know how hard it can be to open to someone, in full transparency, and allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to trust the person to not judge or reject you. I have been there.
I do not know your specific situation, but there is One who does, and He understands and cares.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53 that Jesus was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
This, my friend, is good news!
This is why I use scripture and rely on the Holy Spirit in my life and as a Christian Life Coach, because I know from personal experience, that true and lasting healing can only come through Jesus. I know His will for you is to be set free from what is hindering you from living life abundantly and with purpose.
I didn’t meet Jesus personally until I was an adult. He took my mess and transformed me into a new creation, and since then He has opened many doors for me to learn and to grow and to prepare me for a time such as this.
Through my earlier career in Resource Development and Fundraising, I have been fortunate to have worked with International Organizations and Charities, such as United Nations Refugee Agency, Save the Children, and on campaigns for Child Fund, Children International, and Action Aid. This work opened my eyes to the world outside of my own backyard and helped me not be so selfish and to be thankful. I got to be a small part of helping to meet the need of those less fortunate. I have also had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who taught me leadership and teamwork. These experiences helped launch me into Integrity Leadership Consultants as an Independent Organizational and Leadership Development Consultant. And now I use my love of writing as a copywriter for Christian Businesses, organizations, and ministries.
If you knew where my story started, you would never have believed it. God opened doors for me that I knew I didn’t deserve, but He had a plan and a purpose for my life, just as He does yours. Everything I learned in the secular has prepared me for today. Nothing is wasted when you give it to God. Yes, I have been truly blessed.
My heart is for the youth and street ministry, perhaps because I was once a troubled youth on the streets. The Lord has blessed me with opportunities within the local church to work with youth as a Youth Minister and then as Director of Children & Youth Ministry. I still enjoy speaking and ministering to youth, and I take every opportunity I get to do so. All hell has broken loose in our families and they need a life preserver, someone to throw them a rope and pull them to the other side and into the loving arms of a loving Father. I am a strong advocate to the importance of mentorship and discipleship.
Through the years the Lord transitioned me to women’s ministry. I sat on the board as Vice-President and was active with the local lighthouse of Women’s AGLOW International in Western Maryland. I have volunteered and supported Pregnancy Support Centers, I led and taught Bible studies in Pregnancy Support Centers and recovery ministries for women. I have been privileged to minister alongside some mighty women of God. I have learned much from them and I look back over the years with the fondest of memories.
As a Christian Life Coach, I coach young adults and women to know their true identity and walk in it. I believe our God is the same today as He has always been and He will never change, therefore I believe it is His desire to see every one of His children delivered and set free, so they can walk freely in their gifts and calling.
I am a Mom to four adult children and one four legged buddy, JJ.
I have traveled all over the United States, from the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between, and one thing I have learned about people, we all have the need to be loved and accepted, and until we know that we are already loved and accepted by God, through Jesus, then no matter what we do to fill the need, it will never be enough. It is my prayer that all may know the width and length, height and depth, of God’s love.
